Summer Programs

Summer Power Preschool – Ages 3 - 5

Qualified teachers lead kids in activities that will help prepare for the school years. Each week has a theme and your child will learn to write, count, sit and listen, follow directions, interact with other children, recognize and express feelings, and use words to solve conflict.

Kids will also make friends and have fun as they sing songs, participate in arts and crafts, nature studies and much more. Variable schedules offered, including 2-, 3-, or 5-day options. Sign up on a week-by-week basis.

Summer Power Kindergarten – Entering or just completed Grade K

Weekly themes and field trips bring new adventures as zoos, museums and parks become a part of your child's classroom. Children explore through activities geared to their age and development level. A focus on learning through play helps your child continue their preparation for school in the fall. We provide responsible and secure supervision at all times as well as smaller groups sizes to fit your child's needs. See the growth in your child in one short summer!

Summer Power School Age – Grades K - 6

Your answer to quality care and exciting adventures at over 60 Greater Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin sites. We offer a full-day enrichment program with flexible 3-, 4- and 5-day options. Register for one week or the whole summer.

Kids enjoy their day in small, age-appropriate groups and participate in activities like arts and crafts, group games, sports and weekly field trips under the guidance of our trained Y staff. Each week features a different theme and field trips as they explore nature, science, sports, technology, and more. Water parks, zoos, museums and regional and local parks are just a few of the field trip adventures.

Summer Specialty – Grades 2 - 5

Summer Power Specialty is designed to give kids a chance to focus on their favorite hobby or explore new ones. Enjoy specialty programs like Theater, Boy Power!, Girl Power!, Cooking Creations and more.

Kids spend a large portion of each day focusing on the selected program. Remaining time will be spent on traditional Summer Power activities like swimming, games and theme-based activities. A program related field trip is included.

Summer Uproar – Grades 6 - 8

Uproar provides an exciting combination of spirited adventures and growth opportunities that challenge the mind and stretch the body! Exciting field trips, group activities, and local amusement and water parks are among the many fun things to do at Uproar. Staff counselors provide character development opportunities to encourage independence and responsibility.

Summer Sports – Grades 2 – 5

A safe, fun, low-competitive program designed to build teamwork, sports skills, and self-esteem. If you can't decide which week to come, choose our Sports Sampler week where you can participate in all the sports. Whether learning how to play a new sport or refining old skills, each child is a winner at the YMCA.

Each clinic includes a sports related field trip. At the end of the week, show off your skills in a fun scrimmage with other YMCAs!

Summer Extreme – Grades 6 - 9

Each week of Summer Extreme focuses on a challenging theme designed to get kids out of their comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure. Learn valuable skills and build self-confidence from any of our high adventure Extreme weeks. Enjoy themes like extreme cuisine, rock climbing, outdoor survival skills, extreme video gaming and more.
